Real estate sales is a truly exciting field with great potential for financial success.  As a realtor you are truly in business for yourself.  It is challenging and exciting, but to be successful you need to be able to truly work at it.

What it takes for success:  Self motivated, self starter, problem solver, flexible, determined and persistent, ability to 'bounce back' from disappointment, positive attitude. An abillity to communicate with others about their real estate needs

Pluses:  Flexible hours, unlimited income potential (some agents earn over $200,000/year), in business for yourself (be your own boss), great satisfaction helping others with their real estate needs, develop your own business, people want to talk about real estate, excitement from success

Minuses:  Successful agents must ask for business, great demands on your time and energy, uncertain income stream, cyclical business, competitive environment, many don't succeed, must pay your own taxes, social security, retirement, health care. Disappointments when those you know deal with someone else, when a deal fails.
